One killed in two-vehicle crash in Carteret County

CAPE CARTERET, N.C. (WNCT) — One person was killed and two were injured, one a 3-year-old, in a two-vehicle crash that happened Tuesday afternoon in Carteret County.

Master Trooper Rico L. Stephens with the N.C. State Highway Patrol reports troopers responded at 1:14 p.m. to the two-vehicle crash on NC 58 just north of NC 24 in Cape Carteret. Stephens reports a white 2005 Chevy Tahoe operated by Christopher Ryan Tyler, 42, of Hubert was traveling north on NC 58.  He crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a white 2021 Jeep truck operated by Lunaas Deanne Lanier, 57, of Stella.

Tyler was pronounced dead at the scene. His 3-year-old daughter was in the vehicle and was flown to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune while Lanier was flown to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.
