A man from San Bernardino County has been arrested for child endangerment after he was found doing stunts in his truck with a 3-year-old child in the backseat.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the man was arrested on Friday after deputies observed “approximately 100 vehicles” in the parking lot of a closed business. A large group – estimated by authorities to be between 50 and 100 people – was simultaneously “walking through the lot,” SBSD said.

Soon after, deputies observed a black GMC Sierra doing donuts in the parking lot.

“[The driver] was observed intentionally accelerating his vehicle at a high rate of speed,” law enforcement officials said. “[The driver] turned the tires and intentionally forced the rear tires to lose traction with the ground. This caused the vehicle to spin uncontrollably and placed the surrounding pedestrians in danger.”

Deputies quickly conducted a traffic stop on the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Highland resident Alex Sanchez. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that Sanchez had been doing stunts with a 3-year-old in the rear seat.

The toddler was not restrained by a car seat, authorities added.

Sanchez was arrested and booked for child endangerment at the Central Detention Center. He is being held on $60,000 bail.
