One person is dead and two people were injured after a vehicle failed to stop at an intersection in Yoakum County on Friday morning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The crash occurred 15 miles west of Denver City at 7:25 a.m. with reported clear and dry conditions.

Through DPS's initial investigation, it appears that Victoria Denis McKenzie, 38, of Plains, was driving a 2017 Buick Envision south on Farm to Market Road 769, approaching the intersection with State Highway 83.

McKenzie failed to stop and crashed into the passenger side of a tractor-trailer towing a flatbed trailer driven by Roland Chatham, 47, of Denver City. At the time, Chatham was traveling west on SH 83, approaching FM 769.

The crash caused the flatbed trailer to detach and struck a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado on the driver's side, which was driven by Guadalupe Manual Avila, 34, of Lamesa. Avila was traveling east on SH 83, approaching FM 769.

Denise was pronounced dead on the scene due to injuries received from the crash, according to DPS. Both Chatham and Avila were transported to Yoakum County Hospital but it was not made clear the extent of their injuries.
