Crews respond to person stuck in grain bin in Williamsburg County

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Emergency crews responded Friday afternoon to an individual stuck in a grain bin.

Crews with the Williamsburg County Fire Department were called to the scene off Thurgood Marshall Highway near Sam Brown Road after receiving reports of a person stuck in a bin, according to Williamsburg County Emergency Management.

The patient was removed from the bin shortly after noon and was taken to a local hospital by an Air Reach Helicopter.

The patient was last reported in stable condition. The rescue took almost four hours.

Surrounding agencies like Kingstree Fire Department, Williamsburg County EMS, and Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the call.

Clarendon County Fire Department’s specialized rescue team also responded with equipment to help.
