( WJET/WFXP )– The National Weather Service issued several weather alerts Friday morning including a flood warning for Venango County and wind advisories for six other counties.

A severe flood warning has been issued for the residents of Venango County in addition to a moderate wind advisory. All of Erie, Crawford, Warren, Ashtabula and Chautauqua Counties have also had moderate wind advisories issued.

Venango County

The severe flood warning for Venango Co. will be in effect until 8 p.m. with flooding caused by excessive rainfall with the western area of Forest County, Mercer, central Armstrong, Butler and Clarion Counties may also be affected.

The National Weather Service said flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or happening with numerous roads being closed due to flooding. Streams may also continue to rise as rain continues with between 1.5 and 2 inches already fallen.

As for the wind advisory, that will be in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday with west winds blowing at 20-25 MPH with gusts up to 45 MPH. Unsecured items will be blown around with extremely saturated ground from the rain and strong winds also possibly causing downed trees and power lines.

Erie County

Both northern and southern Erie County will be under a moderate wind advisory until 5 a.m. Saturday with western winds blowing at 15-25 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH. Winds could blow around unsecured objects and blow down tree limbs resulting in power outages.

Residents should use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle and secure outdoor objects.

Crawford County

Crawford County will be under a moderate wind advisory until 5 a.m.

Warren County

Warren County will be under a moderate wind advisory until 5 a.m. Saturday with western winds blowing at 25-35 MPH with gusts up to 55 MPH. Saturated grounds and strong winds could blow around unsecured objects as well as blow down tree limbs resulting in power outages.

Residents should use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle and secure outdoor objects.

Chautauqua County

Chautauqua County will be under a moderate wind advisory until 2 p.m. Saturday with western winds blowing at 20-30 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH. Winds will blow around unsecured objects and blow down tree limbs resulting in power outages.

Residents should use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle and secure outdoor objects.

Ashtabula County

Both Ashtabula Inland and Lakeshore County will be under a moderate wind advisory until 5 a.m.

A reminder that a flood watch means the conditions are in place for a flood to take place where as a warning means floods are taking place or imminent. In food terms, a watch is having all of the ingredients for a dish together whereas a warning would be the assembled dish.
