WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – A stretch of active and stormy weather will return to the Ohio Valley over the weekend and through first week of April.
Rounds of showers and storms are possible during the period as well.
A low pressure system is currently building across The Great Plains and will bring a warm front through The Ohio Valley Saturday, leading to showers and storms.
Another system will develop across The Midwest and move into the region through the first few days of April.
ROUND 1: Saturday, March 30th
The center of low pressure arrives Saturday with scattered showers developing late morning/early afternoon and staying around the region through the evening hours.
ROUND 2: Sunday, March 31st
While much of Easter Sunday looks to remain dry, a few rounds of storms are possible Sunday evening.
Storms at this time will become elevated limiting the severe potential. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted spots along and south of I-70 in a Marginal Risk for severe weather or a one out of five on the severe weather scale.
The timeframe for any storms to develop will be Sunday evening/overnight.
Concerns would be limited to strong winds, small hail, cloud to ground lightning, and downpours that could lead to ponding water on roadways.
ROUND 3: Monday April 1st
The continued active pattern lingers into the first full week of April.
Another weathermaker will return showers and possible storms to the region.
A few storms will be possible.
ROUND 4: Tuesday April 2nd
A cold front Tuesday will bring another threat for potential severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center has the area highlighted in a Slight Risk for severe weather or a two out of five on the severe weather scale.
All severe impacts will be possible. Largest threat will be for downpours, cloud to ground lightning, and strong winds. The hail and tornado threat remains low, but not zero.
The StormTracker7 Weather Team will have updates on-air, on-line, and on social media watching these developments.
