No heavy rain expected through Easter Sunday

Strong easterly trade winds will gradually ease from Friday into the weekend as a potent high-pressure system slowly moves northeastward and weakens. Showers will primarily facous windward and mauka regions, with some spilling over into leeward areas. Drier and more settled weather conditions over the weekend, with the easterly trades becoming breezy. However, the possibility of rainfall may rise early next week as an upper-level disturbance passes through the area, leading to an uptick in trade winds.

A surface high situated north of the region will maintain strong trade winds through the Wednesday night . A Wind Advisory remains in effect for Maui County and the Big Island’s typically windy areas. Alongside the winds, windward showers,, particularly overnight and into the morning, owing to ample rainclouds and a slight upper low nearby. These showers are expected to move quickly through the area, with minimal accumulations.

Over the weekend, a return to drier and more stable conditions.
