The Dane County Sheriff’s Office has announced its new class of deputies, including some from the local area.

Seventeen deputies, the largest group the sheriff's office has seen in some time, were set to be sworn in by Sheriff Kalvin Barrett on Friday, March 29, at 1:30 p.m., according to a news release. The swearing in was scheduled at the Dane County Courthouse, Jury Assembly Room.

The new deputies are: Connor J. Blake, 27, of Marshall; Amy L. Bolling, 50 of Sun Prairie; Zachary E. Bolling, 48, of Sun Prairie; Justin A. Burrus, 28, of Madison; Cole E. Cribbs, 21 of Cross Plains; Brian G. Garcia, 41, of Janesville; Gregory M. Gentz, 49, of Waunakee; Thomas M. Goodwin, 51, of Westfield; Jacob J. Hendrix, 24, of Madison; Brock P. Holmes, 29, of Briggsville; Jason J. Horton, 47, of Janesville; Agron Mucolli, 42, of Windsor; Jennifer L. Nichols, 48, of Sun Prairie; Erik M. Pearce, 51, of Waunakee; Kyle T. Summers, 33, of Waunakee; Allison M. Tillema, 21 of Madison; Erich R. Vaughan, 24, of Cottage Grove.

The group brings various experiences and backgrounds to the Sheriff’s Office, several with previous law enforcement experience.

Depending on their prior level of training, new deputies will attend the Dane County Sheriff’s Office Jail and/or Law Enforcement Academies and receive on-the-job training. Their first assignment will be in the Dane County Jail, where they will serve a two-year probationary period. The positions became available due to retirements and vacancies that occurred in the past year.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office continually recruits for deputy and civilian positions to fill vacancies as they happen. Applications can be found online at www.teamdane.com.
