Basketball: Bohden Duffield named finalist for Mr. Basketball Award

BISMARCK, N.D. — We continue our look at the Mr. Basketball finalists here in North Dakota. In Division B, Bowman County’s Bohden Duffield was named one of the eight players on the ballot.

Duffield was a force on both ends of the court this season, averaging over 22 points with 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game. While he is happy to get recognition for his hard work… Duffield credits his brother’s for their impact on his career.

“It’s a great accomplishment,” he says. “Just to see all the hours and the work that I put in for basketball just finally paying off. I just want to thank my brother’s for pushing me and making me the player I am. That’s the reason I am who I am. And just the competition between brothers is unmatched and it’s just awesome to see how that can just make you into a great basketball player.”

For Duffield, the connection that he shares with his twin brother, Bishop, has been formed on the court. He emphasizes that the connection they have has been a catalyst in the player he’s become.

“He’s just as good as I am,” Duffield says. “I wouldn’t be the player I am without him. And he won’t be the player he was without me. So it’s awesome to just grow up in basketball with him. Just to be with him and just have him on the court always and just to know each other. That and just just playing with each other know we’re good at our strengths and our weaknesses and just growing up and just become the man we are. And and the players on the court.”

“It doesn’t do it justice watching on online or on TV,” Bulldogs head coach Ronnie Stewart adds. “I say it all the time, If you want to see the real McCoy between these two boys, watch them at practice. I honestly think that every day of practice is even funnier to watch just because of the fact that their biggest competition is each other.”
