Route 22 crash near Route 191 Bethlehem Township

BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. - Three separate crashes caused traffic troubles in the same area of Route 22 in Northampton County on Tuesday.

Six people total were injured in the wrecks on 22 at Route 191 in Bethlehem Township, state police said.

The first wreck involved three vehicles in the eastbound lanes at 6:54 a.m., said Trooper Nathan Branosky, with Pennsylvania State Police. Two people were injured and taken to St. Luke's Hospital's Anderson campus.

The second wreck happened right after that, at 7:01 a.m., on the westbound side. Four vehicles were involved but no one was hurt, Branosky said.

The highway was closed for a while and traffic was tied up during the morning commute.

Then at 10:25 a.m., four vehicles crashed on Route 22 East at Route 191. Four people were hurt and taken to St. Luke's Anderson, police said.

One of the cars ended up on its roof.

The eastbound lanes were again closed at Route 512, but reopened around noon.
