The lingering effects of a storm Monday night into Tuesday have affected school schedules across the state on Wednesday, as well.
Cold temperatures expected on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning prompted concerns from forecasters about ice forming on roadways and slick driving conditions for Wednesday morning’s commute. School districts across the state announced closures on Tuesday, and some made additional announcements concerning the school schedule on Wednesday.
Tuesday’s winter coastal storm didn’t boast huge numbers in terms of the inches of snow that fell, but it did account for the first statewide accumulating snow since March 2022. Preliminary reports from trained weather observers across the Garden State show at least a half-inch of snow on the ground in all 21 counties, with some areas getting 2 to 3 inches of snow by late Tuesday morning.
