Magnum announced canceling its Spring 2024 tour following Tony Clarkin's diagnosis.

On Monday, December 18, Clarkin released a statement revealing the bad news he had for his fans. According to the musician, he has been diagnosed with a rare and incurable spinal condition that ultimately affected the band's schedule.

What Happened to Tony Clarkin?

Clarkin said he started feeling bad pains in his neck and head over the past few months. He then consulted his doctors and found out what was happening to him.

"I have developed a rare spinal condition. It's not life-limiting, but it can be degenerative in some people, and sadly it's not curable. There are treatments that may help, but we don't know how good they'll be," he revealed.

The musician added that he would not be able to play the scheduled shows because of the nature of their touring and the weight of the electric guitars he has been using.

He added, "We've taken the decision to cancel the tour, rather than mess anyone around trying to postpone in the hope things might get better in the short term. Bob [Catley, vocals] didn't feel it would be right doing it with a dep at this time."

Despite the bad news, he assured the fans it was not the end of Magnum, telling them the future might be different for them. For now, Clarkin and Magnum need everyone's understanding and support as they try to figure out what he can and can't do in the following years.

He ended his post by apologizing to everyone who had bought tickets before expressing his desire to see everyone again. Fans can opt to refund their tickets.

Meanwhile, Magnum shared a joint statement of the members in a separate post.

"We are obviously all extremely upset at this development, especially so close to Christmas," the group said. "We can't thank you all enough for your support over the years and hope you'll stick with us through this too."

To make it up to the fans, Magnum will release its new album, "Here Comes The Rain," on January 12. It contains the first single, "Blue Tango" and the track "The Seventh Darkness" which featured Nick Dewhurst and Chris "BeeBe" Aldridge.
