Alecia Christina Dixon-Kurschner, a television distribution executive, died on Nov. 23 after a battle with ovarian cancer. She was 60.

“Everyone that had the pleasure of knowing or working with Alecia is heartbroken over her death. Alecia was much more than a valued executive, she was also an irreplaceable friend,” Simon Sutton, former president and chief revenue officer of HBO, said in a statement. “Her passion for her work was outweighed only by her passion for life and family, and her relationships with her friends and colleagues. We all will miss her leadership, kindness, wit, adventurous spirit, loyal friendship, and her genuine love for life.”

Dixon-Kurschner began her career in entertainment at The Cannon Group, beginning as an executive assistant and working her way up to chief executive officer. While working there, Path Communications took over the company and was later merged with MGM. Dixon-Kurschner worked at MGM during three different sales of the studio, eventually advancing to senior vice president of distribution in the television group. In that role, she put together several of the studio’s long term output agreements with Showtime and HBO, in addition to several other landmark deals for the studio.

Following her leave from MGM in 2008, she held several senior leadership positions in television distribution at Starz and Miramax before moving to an independent consulting role in 2020.

Born in San Francisco on May 10, 1963, Dixon-Kurschner was raised in Troy, Mich. and graduated from UCLA in 1987. She married Dale Kurschner in 2010 and became a stepmother to Claire, Ben and Will. She is survived by them, as well as her brother and his wife, her stepsister and her husband, her stepbrothers and her nieces and nephews.
