OBITUARY: Billy Joe Hornberger Sr.

Billy Joe Hornberger, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Billy Joe was born on February 12, 1943, to the late Billy Batts Hornberger and Eliza Eunice Webb.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death, daughter; Melissa Hornberger, brother; Jerry Russell Hornberger, and sister; Jane Broadrick.

Billy Joe was a member of Woodland Street United Methodist Church and served as former choir director. Billy Joe served in the United States Army Reserve. He loved his family, woodworking, horses, motorcycles, and fishing. He was a past Grand Chaplain for the Grand Chapter of Tennessee of the Eastern Star.

Billy Joe Hornberger, Sr. is survived by; wife Sherry Farmer Hornberger of Orlinda, sons; Will (Elaine) Hornberger of Springfield, Billy Joe (Sommer) Hornberger, Jr. of Cross Plains, Roger (Kathy) Dorris of Springfield, Todd Dorris of Greenbrier, Thad (Stephanie) Dorris of Springfield, daughters; Judith Ann Dotson of Springfield, Paulette (Troy) Farrar of Gallatin, Sister; Ann Felts of Springfield, 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Ann Procter and Tim Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Billy Hornberger, Jr., Roger Dorris, Todd Dorris, Thad Dorris, Troy Farrar, and Gordon White serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Hornberger, 2019 Grand Family and the Woodland Street United Methodist Church. The family will receive Saturday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with Masonic service at 7:00 P.M. and again on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until hour service at 2:00 P.M.
