A longtime vacant space at 124 W. National Ave. will soon become a bar and brunch spot named Pop.

Pop, a new bar and brunch spot serving pop-star themed cocktails and airing episodes of "Ru Paul's Drag Race," is planning to open in a long-vacant Walker's Point space.

The new bar at 124 W. National Ave. is taking over the former Ashley's Que space. The barbecue joint was destroyed by a fire in February 2017. The building's owner remodeled it, but it has remained vacant since.

Marcus Wise, a former bartender and manager at nearby Fluid, purchased the building and is opening the new LGBTQ-friendly bar with his husband, Daniel Patterson.

"I've worked and live in Walker's Point," Wise said. "I always thought if I was going to open a bar here, it would be in the gayborhood."

Wise plans to serve themed cocktails on tap named after songs by pop stars like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. The televisions will air current hit music videos that are synced to the music playing over the speakers. They also will have themed nights where they will play 80s or 90s songs and music videos.

"Entertainment will always be curated and at the forefront of what we plan to do," Wise said.

They also plan to host watch parties for "Ru Paul's Drag Race" and the Green Bay Packers.

Pop will have a brunch service on the weekends. Food otherwise will be limited to pizza and elevated bar food, like truffle parmesan fries.

Wise is aiming for an August opening.

Pop is looking to hire staff. Interested people can email Wise at marcus@popwalkerspoint.com.
