Summer Music Camp
Campers perform during Lee’s Summer Music Camp.

Lee University’s summer music camp will take place June 19-24 for rising 9th graders to rising college freshmen, offering five different tracks to accommodate the needs of everyone, including the Music Lovers Track, the College Preparatory Track, the Worship Leader Track, the Jazz Track, and the Piano Track.

Music Camp offers an experience geared to enhance musical skill and knowledge. Students will have the opportunity to gain experience in piano, choir, chamber strings, band, or jazz combos alongside Lee University faculty and camp staff. Students will also study music theory and music history along with specialized areas of focus.

“Lee has a great School of Music with a first-rate faculty, and students who join us for camp will personally experience their expertise in lessons, ensembles, the classroom, and performances,” said Laud Vaught, music resource coordinator at Lee and music camp administrator. “The casual and fun setting of a summer camp, the friendly faculty and staff, and the singular focus on music create an atmosphere in which learning and development happen naturally, but at an accelerated pace.”

Each day begins with an all-camp chapel service, after which students will attend a combination of classes, rehearsals, and seminars, where they will participate in activities such as worship classes, improv sessions, and aural skills development. After dinner and free time, there will be an evening concert and a social activity before concluding each day with a small group devotional held in the dorms.

Evening concerts will spotlight piano, vocal, instrumental, and jazz music from Lee ensembles and faculty. Depending on the track chosen, students will present concerts on Friday night and/or Saturday morning. Evening concerts, which will be held on that Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, will be open to the public.

Dormitory housing (resident) or commuter (non-resident) options are available with an optional meal plan available for commuters. The registration fee is $25 and increases to $50 after June 1. Resident Camp fee is $595, and Non-Resident Camp fee is $425. A limited number of scholarships are provided for students with proven financial need or for being a 2022-23 All-State participant.
