Campus Safety: Everyone Has a Role

An off-campus incident on June 1 prompted an emergency alert at the Hampton campus. An event like this reminds us of the importance of vigilance where safety and security are concerned, note VPCC Police.

Emphasizing that safety and security are top priorities at the College, police say everyone plays a role. Taking precautions can make a difference. Here are some tips:

*Report suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities. 
*Lock doors and secure belongings.
*Keep your vehicle locked and ensure valuables are out of sight.
*Know your way around campus.
*Stay alert to your surroundings and the people around you.
 *Locate the emergency call buttons on campus.
*Don't overload yourself with bags or packages when moving about.
*Avoid walking alone at night.
*Be aware of available campus safety services.
