State police said a verbal argument between cousins in their 60s over household items running low and other chores led to an assault in Luzerne Township, Fayette County.State police said the incident happened a little before 9:15 a.m. Monday on Fourth Street.Police said Daniel Buretz, 62, grabbed a kitchen knife and made threatening gestures and statements after the argument with his 62-year-old female cousin turned physical.Police said Buretz later put the knife down but grabbed the victim’s cane and struck her lightly on the head with it, resulting in swelling, redness and bruising.Buretz also allegedly grabbed the victim’s arm.He faces misdemeanor counts of simple assault and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing later this month.
