Operation Chill: Erie PD to ‘ticket’ kids for good behavior

The Erie Police Department will be handing out tickets — but these tickets aren’t for violations.

The city is launching Operation Chill, a partnership between 7-Eleven and hundreds of law enforcement agencies that encourages officers to have positive interactions with local kids and “ticket” kids for good behavior. The “tickets” are actually coupons for a free small Slurpee at any participating 7-Eleven store.

“We are always looking for ways to help our officers build strong relationships with the youth in our community,” Chief Kimberly Stewart said in a release. “Operation Chill makes it fun for us to interact with kids in a positive way.”

Erie police officers will reward kids for wearing bicycle helmets, participating in community events, picking up trash and general good behavior. More information can be found at erieco.gov.
