TIME THE NEWBORN WAS FOUND, IT WAS DEAD AT CHAVEZ COUNTY DETENTION CENTER. OFFICER AND AN INMATE BOTH FACING CHARGES FOR STABBING ANOTHER INMATE. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THE JAIL GUARD POPPED OPEN THE DOOR SO THEY COULD STAB INMATE JAVIER GORILLA. THE INMATE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED AND FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES, INCLUDING AGGRAVATED BATTERY. THE DETENTION OFFICER WAS ALSO ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH CONSPIRACY. THE VICTIM STILL IN THE HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIE

Detention center officer charged for role in inmate stabbing
An officer at the Chaves County Detention Center, along with an inmate, have been charged for their roles in the stabbing of another inmate.The Chavez County Sheriff's Office decided to charge detention officer Vereniz Cano Villalobos with conspiracy to wit aggravated battery. Cell door No. 7 was left open during Cano Villalobos' shift when inmate Steven Perez allegedly entered and stabbed a fellow inmate. Perez has been charged with aggravated battery, conspiracy to wit aggravated battery, possession of a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence. The victim was transported to the hospital with numerous wounds from the attack.The victim did not want to press charges. Cano Villalobos has a trial set for June.
