Reference something like AccuWeather or the Weather Channel to a Tahoe local, and you'll get scoffs and complaints about how those sites never get it right.

Reference OpenSnow — or, better yet, name-drop Bryan Allegretto — and you'll be on your way to making a Tahoe friend for life. 

Allegretto is the author and local celebrity behind Lake Tahoe's OpenSnow forecasting site; for many, it's the equivalent of Tahoe's snow bible.

Allegretto knows he has the power to send Lake Tahoe into full panic mode, spurring mass hotel cancellations, panic-buying at the grocery stores, and runs on gas stations with just one word.

That word? "Snowpocalypse."
