The Los Angeles Clippers are in the midst of another disappointing season that may end in heartbreak after a recent injury to Paul George sidelined him for the rest of the regular season.

The struggles have been ongoing for a while, with coach Tyronn Lue taking the brunt of the blame . He revealed that he's actually missed 7 family funerals since December trying to be accountable to the team amidst its struggles.

"Since December, I lost 7 family members from Mexico. But we lost 6 games in a row so I can't leave my team behind. I know I should be there for my family and it's been a tough time for my family that wants me there but like, 7 family members since December and I didn't go to 1 funeral because we lost 5 games in a row. I can take the easy way out and say I'll go home for a week, but I feel like I couldn't do that. Sometimes, you give the game too much... Had we won 5 in a row, I would've been home for at least 3 of the funerals."

The Clippers are currently the 5th seed and just 1.5 games ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans and 2 games ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers. Without PG13, it may be challenging for the Clippers to keep all the teams on their tail over the last 7 games of the season. They just need a couple of more wins to solidify a playoff berth, which they'll likely achieve.

Has The Clippers Experiment Failed?

If the Clippers fail to do anything of note in the postseason this year, there'll be no other way to look at the Kawhi Leonard and Paul George era as a failure. Given the assets they gave up for PG and how they're already paying dividends for the Oklahoma City Thunder, this trade cannot be redeemed unless they win a title.

With every season, Kawhi and PG get older, the Clippers lose more assets, and the team becomes more injury-prone. With Kawhi healthy, the team has looked fierce, so they'll hope that can continue in the playoffs when PG returns. Given how open the West is, the Clippers still have a chance.
