South Fork High School in Martin County will be closed Monday due to a wildfire.

South Fork High School in Martin County will be closed Monday due to a wildfire.The school made the announcement on its Facebook page.“Out of an abundance of caution, and due to smoldering and wind/weather variables beyond our control, the decision has been made to cancel all classes, activities and athletics tomorrow. We ask families and employees to avoid the area near campus as Fire Rescue will continue to have a heavy presence near our buildings.”The wildfire started Sunday around 2 p.m. on Red Wing Drive in Stuart. The small fire spread to heavy brush nearby, according to Martin County Fire Rescue.The fire grew to 80 acres in size as firefighters worked to keep the flames away from houses on Hawkview Circle in the Foxwood neighborhood. Powerlines were damaged which knocked out electricity to residents, according to Martin County Fire Rescue. No homes were damaged.As of 7:15 p.m. Sunday, the fire was 100% contained.
