CAMP GRAYLING, Mich, (WPBN/WGTU) -- Nothern Michigan communities are still waiting for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to make a decision on the proposed expansion of Camp Grayling.

On Thursday, the Montmorency County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously in opposition of the expansion proposal.

The board of commissioners joins more than 40 other governmental organizations in opposing the expansion.

At roughly 148,000 acres, the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center is the largest Army National Guard training facility in the U.S.

And the proposed expansion would add another 162,000 acresof state land for 20 years.
