No injuries reported in two fires at Venice mobile home community

The State Fire Marshal is investigating a structure fire that occurred at the Bay Indies Clubhouse in Venice on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters arrived at the scene just after 5 a.m. at 950 Bay Indies Blvd. The first fire started inside the clubhouse at the retirement mobile home community, but a second fire started after embers landed on a woman's home. She was able to evacuate and called 911.

Venice Police, Nokomis Fire Department and Sarasota County Fire Department all assisted with the blaze.

City officials said that the cause of the fire is unknown, and no injuries have been reported.

Residents were asked to avoid the area.
