In conjunction with its March Women’s History Month exhibit “Unfinished Business: Women’s Power of Persistence,” the Doña Ana Arts Council (DAAC) is partnering with NMCO Studio and Success Partnership to recognize the honorees of the joint, “Desert Heroines - Women Who Tell Our Stories” photo project.

The reception will be held 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 11, as part of DAAC’s Second Saturday, at DAAC, 230 S. Water St.

“Desert Heroines” honors and showcases women in Doña Ana County who are “making moves, creating legacies and uplifting the community around them,” DAAC said in a news release. Each year the heroines project asks the public to nominate women who are making a difference in their communities. Five women are then selected to take part in the project photoshoot. This year’s honorees were announced March 8.
