Criminal damage: South Green Road

A man, 18, reported Feb. 3 that someone had broken into his vehicle and stolen more than $1,000 worth of hair clippers and supplies.

He said the passenger-side mirror was also broken off and placed inside the vehicle.

He believed an ex-boyfriend of a girl he was visiting was responsible. Police are investigating.

Violation of protection order: Argonne Road

A woman reported Feb. 5 that she was receiving text messages from her husband, against whom she has a protection order due to a domestic violence incident.

Charges for violating the protection order were subsequently prepared for the arrest of the 41-year-old Lyndhurst man.

Theft: Mayfield Road

A man reported Feb. 2 that he believed he had lost his debit card at Giant Eagle and found that fraudulent transactions had been made on it.

He said one transaction was made at the Speedway in the city. All charges totaled $244. His bank is investigating.

Improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle: South Belvoir Boulevard

Upon a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. Feb. 4, officers located two guns and a small amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.

The driver denied several times having any weapons in the vehicle and had a suspended CCW permit. Charges are pending against the 32-year-old Cleveland man.

Theft: Warrensville Center Road

A Cleveland woman, 30, fled from Walmart Feb. 4 after an attempted theft of $664 worth of merchandise, but was stopped by responding officers and returned to the store, where she was charged with theft.

Theft: Warrensville Center Road

An off-duty officer, working security at Walmart, struggled with a shoplifter Jan. 30 as she tried to flee from him.

She was eventually detained and found to have failed to scan $593 worth of merchandise.

The Cleveland woman, 30, was charged with theft and trespassing and was turned over to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for aggravated robbery.

Burglary: Warrendale Road

A woman reported Jan. 31 that her ex-husband had broken into her home and stolen her cell phone. She said he never lived at the home and there was a no-contact order in place.

Burglary charges are pending against the man.

Domestic violence: Winston Road

Officers responded to a disturbance Jan. 31 and learned that a woman had secured a knife after being choked by her husband.

It was determined that the two were not actually married, but live together with their two sons. Charges are pending against the 33-year-old man.

Theft from vehicle: South Green Road

A man reported at 4:49 a.m. Feb. 1 that the catalytic converter had been cut off his box truck while it was parked at the Exceptional Event Center.

He valued the part at $3,000, which included the cost of installation.

There was surveillance video in the area where the truck had been parked.

Theft from vehicle: Laclede Road

A resident reported Feb. 5 that someone had entered her vehicle overnight and stolen her wallet and the contents of her son’s wallet, which she said contained $452 cash.

She thought the vehicle had been locked, but there were no signs of forced entry.
