Drunken driver arrested after traveling 100 mph on wrong side of freeway: Mayfield Police Blotter

MAYFIELD, Ohio

Impaired driving: Interstate 271

Around 12:40 a.m. Feb. 2, a vehicle entered the village driving more than 100 mph while traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes of I-271.

The incident was reported by multiple agencies, as the vehicle had also been traveling in the wrong lanes while coming from the east on Interstate 90.

Responding officers located the vehicle stopped because it had run out of gas.

The driver, a 31-year-old Euclid man, did not know where he was and was highly intoxicated. He was cited for numerous traffic violations and arrested for OVI.

Traffic stop: Interstate 271

A vehicle was stopped for making abrupt lane changes without signaling Jan. 31.

The Twinsburg driver had a small open container of alcohol, but passed all sobriety tests and was let off with a warning for the traffic violation and open container.

Disturbance: Hardwood Court

A resident reported a lot of noise coming from a vacant home where workers were onsite at 6:50 a.m. Feb. 1.

Responding officers found nobody at the home at the time, but returned later and advised the workers of the complaint. They said they were there earlier unloading boxes, but did not begin working prior to the allowed start time.

Disturbance: Wilson Mills Road

A True North employee refused to leave the business Feb. 3 after management said he was being sent home for having a rough shift.

Officers responded to the business, but the man had already been picked up by a friend.

Suspicious person: Village Trail

A woman reported from out of state Feb. 4 that an unknown man was at her home, which was listed for sale.

Responding officers located the man, who said his real estate agent told him it would be OK to stop and look at the home. He was advised to only visit with the agent.

Impaired driving: Interstate 271

A Willoughby man, 25, was arrested for OVI and cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after his vehicle was stopped speeding around midnight Feb. 6.
