Tesla is a powerhouse and they’re even helping competitors to develop electric vehicles of their own. However, we’re not talking about another Toyota RAV4 EV as spy photographers have instead caught a 2024 BMW iX2 using a Tesla Supercharger.
While this may seem strange, the automaker launched a non-Tesla Supercharger pilot in 2021 as part of their effort to “accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.” The program is available in a number of European countries – including Belgium, France, Finland, Norway, and Sweden – and requires drivers to use the Tesla app to handle payments.
The pilot has resulted in some interesting sights and the latest could have easily started rumors about a redesigned Model Y. However, that’s not the case as BMW is working on an all-new X2 that will eschew its hatchback-like design for a more traditional crossover coupe appearance.

This particular iX2 prototype is heavily disguised, but we can see it will have a fully enclosed grille that resides above a split intake with a triangular mesh pattern. We can also get a glimpse of new headlights and pronounced daytime running lights.
The changes continue with a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof, which gives way to an angular rear window. The crossover also sports a familiar greenhouse and more curvaceous bodywork. They’re joined by five-spoke wheels, a prominent rear spoiler, and an all-new rear end.
BMW has been tight-lipped about the upcoming EV, but the model will share its powertrain with the iX1. As a result, we can expect an xDrive30 variant that features a 64.7 kWh battery pack as well as a dual motor all-wheel drive system with a combined output of 309 hp (230 kW / 313 PS) and 364 lb-ft (494 Nm) of torque. This setup enables the iX1 to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.6 seconds, before hitting a limited top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h). More importantly, the crossover has a WLTP range of between 259 and 273 miles (417-440 km).
