1 dead in shooting on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating a deadly shooting on the city’s east side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 2900 block of N. Chester Avenue at approximately 12:13 p.m. on report of shots fired.

Police reported arriving on scene and locating an adult male with a gunshot wound. Police said the man was pronounced dead on scene.

Investigators said that preliminary information led detectives to believe the parties involved in the incident are “potentially known to each other.”

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will release the deceased’s identity once next-of-kin notification has been made.
