The New York Yankees will be missing a few players for a portion of spring training this year due to the World Baseball Classic.
But they’ll only be without three guys, according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman: starter Nestor Cortes, reliever Jonathan Loaisiga and second baseman Gleyber Torres.

The first round WBC begins on March 8, with the championship game on March 21. Yankees pitchers and catchers are to report to spring training Feb. 16. Position players report Feb. 20.
The New York Mets are facing a bigger hit, losing 12 players. They’ll have their entire infield (Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Francisco Lindor and Eduardo Escobar) competing in the WBC. They’ll also be missing Omar Narvaez, Jose Quintana, Brooks Raley and Edwin Diaz.

Mets pitchers and catchers will report to camp next Wednesday, Feb. 15. The full team will be in Port St. Lucie on Feb. 20.
Players competing in the WBC will return to spring training once their countries are eliminated from the tournament.
