Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale fans bared witness to the beginning of the (possible) end of Ethan Anderson and Marcus Dean tonight (February 7).

It all stemmed from Naomi Walters' entrapment idea (involving Nate Robinson as bait) that went askew in scenes earlier this week; spying a set-up, Greg was confronted by Naomi and Marcus over sexual harrassment.

"Well done," the villain declared, dabbing his bleeding lip after being punched. "You get to tell Ethan you just fast-tracked the end of his career."

Outraged upon learning that Marcus had been reported to the police by Greg for assault, Ethan arranged to meet Greg at their house where he brokered a deal for his boyfriend to avoid any consequences: they'd drop the sexual harassment complaint in return for his silence.

Greg gladly accepted these terms, but when Marcus tried to claw back some normality between him and Ethan, it was obvious that things didn't sit right with the young lawyer.

"After everything that's happened, I thought we could have a bit of me and you time..." he said, having brought home a takeaway curry.

"You should've trusted me, I could've sorted it out!" Ethan hit back. "Things didn't need to get so messy!

"Do you know what... I can't operate like this, I don't need this chaos in my life. I'm spending the night at dad's, I think we both need a bit of time..."

Stunned, Marcus asked what would happen after that.

"I don't know, Marcus! All I know is we can't carry on like this."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
