The Atlanta Braves will enjoy their final off day of the spring Tuesday and with just over a week of Grapefruit League action remaining, the team’s roster is taking shape for Opening Day. The Braves answered many of the questions that were lingering Monday night with a surprising round of cuts that included not only Vaughn Grissom and Braden Shewmake, but also Jordan Luplow and Nick Anderson. Barring an unforeseen trade, those moves have siphoned much of the drama out of the Opening Day roster reveal. With that said, below is a look at where things stand currently and what the Opening Day roster is likely to look like.

The Atlanta Braves have been the beneficiary of a stacked farm system throughout their run of five straight division titles, with players like Ronald Acuna Jr. and Michael Harris II coming in to have immediate impacts on the team. However the system is notably weakened from those early days and the question now is whether they can once again find rookie magic.

Another day, another cut that gets us closer to the Opening Day roster. This one was very expected:. Soroka made his 2023 Spring Training debut on Wednesday and got four outs with few ill effects. The defense behind him was shoddy and he struggled to execute the slider consistently, but it was still nice to see for a guy who’s had so many serious injuries and setbacks that every mound appearance basically counts as a blessing, if not a minor miracle.

Braves option Michael Soroka to Triple-A

Matt Olson homered again for the Atlanta Braves as they settled for a 2-2 tie with the New York Mets Thursday at CoolToday Park. Jared Shuster got the starting nod for the Braves today and turned in a solid outing. Shuster pitched six innings and only allowed two hits along with two earned runs while also striking out two. During his six innings of work, Shuster got some help on defense early as Austin Riley made a great snag at the hot corner.

What a wild day of rester decisions for the Braves. Many of the best performing options of positions of need for Atlanta were sent to Triple A on Monday, an indication that the Braves are looking to keep as much talent on their 40-man roster as possible. However, especially at the short stop position, it seems puzzling that the best option was not given the nod as the guy in 2023 after plenty of build up during the offseason.
