On Wednesday night, Duquesne head coach Keith Dambrot can hit the 500-win milestone of his college basketball head coaching career with a win over George Mason.
Dambrot picked up win No. 499 on Saturday, as the Dukes dominated George Washington in Washington, D.C. by a score of 93-67.

“When I retire, I’ll think about it,” Dambrot told Pittsburgh Sports Now about the milestone. “All that says is I’ve coached a long time, a lot of years.”
Dambrot has led five college programs as head coach in his career, spending time at Tiffin (1984-86), Ashland University (1989-91), Central Michigan (1991-93), Akron (2004-17), and Duquesne (2017-present). At the division one level, Dambrot has earned 20 wins at Central Michigan, 305 at Akron, and 86 at Duquesne.
This year’s Duquesne squad sits at 15-8 on the year and 5-5 in Atlantic 10 play. Dambrot revamped the Dukes’ roster through the transfer portal last offseason, and he has reaped the benefits of his recruiting efforts, as transfer guards Dae Dae Grant and Tevin Brewer and JuCo guard Jimmy Clark III have combined to average more than 33 points per game.
