'Dedication': Kansas City police officers honored for service to the city
Dozens of Kansas City police officers were honored by the department on Tuesday.
It was a night of recognition for officers who go above and beyond the duty of normal expectations.
"Their dedication to the city, which you are about to learn, has made Kansas City safer, stronger, and more hopeful,” said Police Chief Stacey Graves.
Among those honored were officer Steven Emmons, whose fast thinking and CPR saved the life of Amanis who overdosed on drugs.
A team of officers came together and recover 59 stolen cars, guns, illegal narcotics and property worth $330,000.
"There was likely an immediate reduction in the number of catalytic converter thefts in South Kansas City,” Graves said.
Officer Marc Catron pulled a worker from a burning trash truck.
In all, 31 first-responders were recognized for dedication and service.
