LYNDHURST, Ohio
Warrant arrest: Golfway Lane
At 10:35 p.m. Feb. 3, a man, 58, reported that a car occupied by two men was in his driveway and that the men were selling what he believed to be fentanyl to his 26-year-old daughter.
The woman had been released that day from a drug rehabilitation facility and her father didn’t want her in his house if she possessed drugs.
A police K-9 was brought to the scene, and unidentified drugs were found in a backpack owned by the car’s passenger. That passenger, a Parma man, 27, was found to be wanted on a Brooklyn police warrant.
Police arrested the man on the warrant. Drug charges are pending as the matter is further investigated.
Drug abuse: Interstate 271
At 8:45 p.m. Feb. 5, an officer discovered a man passed out at the wheel of his car as the auto was stopped on the I-271 northbound exit at Brainard Road.
Inside the car, officers found a white powder believed to be a drug. Police arrested the man, 55, of Euclid, on a charge of drug abuse.
OVI: Richmond Road
At 7:25 p.m. Feb. 5, a motorist reported that a white car with a black top was being driven erratically. A second caller then reported that a car with the same description had hit a tree or driven off the road.
Police located the car, which had not struck a tree, on Richmond Road near Sedgewick Road. Police arrested the driver, a Lyndhurst man, 24.
The man was believed to have been impaired by use of a drug. Police took the man to Hillcrest Hospital for a blood draw. He was arrested for OVI.
Psychiatric situation: Arlington Drive
At 12:30 p.m. Feb. 5, a woman, 44, reported that her son, 16, had threatened to drink cough syrup because the mother would not allow him to date an 18-year-old woman.
The report did not indicate whether the boy ingested the cough syrup, but officers took him to Hillcrest Hospital for an evaluation.
Assault: Mayfield Road
At 10:50 p.m. Feb. 4, a 911 caller reported that a male customer at Gilbert’s bar, 5415 Mayfield Road, was involved in an altercation with a male bartender. No weapon was seen.
As police arrived, the customer, a Beachwood resident, 41, was leaving. He said that the bar’s manager, a Lyndhurst man, 54, had assaulted him.
Police learned that the customer was wanted on a Stark County Sheriff’s Office warrant, but that deputies could not pick him up.
The matter was turned over to the city prosecutor to determine if charges will be filed.
The bartender told police to inform the man that he was no longer welcome at the bar.
Assist person: Mayfield Road
At 6:40 p.m. Feb. 4, a caller reported that an 11-year-old girl had been left behind by her family at Applebee’s restaurant, 5658 Mayfield Road. The girl was part of a party of 13 that entered the restaurant, but then soon after left without her.
Police learned the name of the girl’s grandmother, then that of her mother. On the phone, the mother explained to police that the party had decided to go to a restaurant in downtown Cleveland and that when they left Applebee’s, she thought her daughter was in the girl’s grandmother’s car.
When she got downtown, the mother realized her daughter had been left behind. The woman, 29, of Euclid, returned to get her daughter.
Theft: Cedar Road
At 4:05 p.m. Feb. 4, an employee of Dick’s Sporting Goods, 24545 Cedar Road in Legacy Village, reported that a male suspect had loaded up a cart with merchandise and left the store without paying.
The suspect was then seen getting into a black Nissan Sentra that had no license plates. The car headed west on Cedar Road. The suspect could not be located.
Stolen were 12 items totaling $1,947.99.
