According to the Mobile Police Department shots rang out off of Burden and Cotton Streets around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, sending one man to the hospital.
Shernita Mauldin says her 27-year-old son Howard Anderson was the victim, and the shooter was his childhood friend.
"I was at work and my husband gets a phone call that my son has been shot," said Mauldin.
"He shot my son, my son don't do nothing to nobody, he don't do nothing to nobody," she continued.
She says her son was at his home when his friend came to the door, opened fire, and ran.
She also says her son was hit several times.
"That's supposed to be his childhood friend, he shot my son over he say she say. My son was at work yesterday, he didn't get off till 3am this morning. My son was still sleeping in his work clothes when he came to the residence where he was at and shot my son in his hand and in his leg," said Mauldin.
The mother says this was senseless gun violence and that there needs to be a solution to this growing problem.
"It's sad, it's sad and when it hits close to home it's sad, my son didn't deserve that, all he is trying to do is work and take care of his kids," said Mauldin.
