Lee Guard Haley Schubert Turns Into One of the Lady Flames Most Prolific Scorers

Cleveland, TN-(WDEF-TV) The Lee women’s basketball team currently sits in first place in the Gulf South Conference standings. Senior guard Haley Schubert is a big reason for the Lady Flames success. She has turned into one of Lee’s most prolific all-time scorers.

It seems Haley Schubert has that intangible trait all coaches love to see in a player.
Said head coach Marty Rowe:”I mean she just plays so hard, and plays with so much emotion. She has done it since she walked in the door.”
Schubert likely ran through the door.
Said Rowe:”She’s unique. I mean she’s the fastest kid I’ve ever coached okay from one end of the court to the other with or without the ball.”
Time may be the only thing faster than Schubert.
She can’t believe this is her 5th season with the Lady Flames.
Said Schubert:”I think I’ve just had the best time this year with this group of girls. It’s just been really emotional for me to get to play another year here, so I’m just very grateful for that opportunity and the girls.”
Marty Rowe wishes his speedy guard could stick around for another five years.
Said Rowe:”Now she makes the young kids. They all look up to her. They see how hard she plays and competes and hates to lose. Everybody loves winning, but it’s a very few that hate losing, and she hates losing.”
Schubert was recently honored for scoring her 2,000th career point.
Just the 5th player in school history to do it, and it proved to be a remarkable point.
Said Rowe:”That bucket on the road against one of our probably biggest rivals in an overtime situation. She steps up and makes this 15-footer, and then I’m going to the locker room, and Phillip, one of our SID’s, he says hey, that’s her 2,000th point. I was like man, that’s crazy. What an awesome way to get it.”
Said Schubert:”Afterwards it just meant a lot seeing how my team celebrated me, and it just meant a lot to me knowing that everyone was supporting me.”
Schubert currently leads the Gulf South Conference in scoring with 19 points a contest.
Said Rowe:”Just got that killer about them where they know hey, I’m going to go score, and I dont’ care who is guarding me. I can figure it out.”
Said

Schubert:”My final goal that I want to achieve this season is just getting another conference championship, and making it as far as we can in the regional tournament, and I think we are capable of doing that, so I’m really excited. Like I said to see how we end up.”
