Boys basketball: Burlington County Tournament, Royal Bracket, First Round recap

Cherokee 51, Bordentown 45

Louis Galasso scored 15 points to lead seventh-seeded Cherokee as it defeated 10th-seeded Bordentown 51-45 in Marlton.

The game was tied at 22 at the half, but Cherokee (14-8) outscored Bordentown 29-23 in the second half including a 17-12 run in the second half to get the win.

Judd Holt also had 12 points.

Andrew DaCosta led the way for Bordentown (13-9) with a game-high 17 points with Eunmin Choi posting 10.

Cherokee will face second-seeded Moorestown in the quarterfinals on Monday.

Medford Tech 66, Burlington City 64

Tre Powell had a huge game, posting 32 points to lead the way for eighth-seeded Medford Tech as it edged out ninth-seeded Burlington City 66-64 in Medford.

Powell scored 22 of his 32 in the first half and was 11 for 11 from the free-throw line, 8 of which came in the fourth quarter.

Medford Tech (14-11) held a 34-27 lead at the half and held on despite being outscored 37-32 by Burlington City in the second half.

Prince Okonkwo and Nesta Rice also had 11 points apiece.

Aaron Young was the leading scorer for Burlington City (12-9) with 18 points, with Everett Barnes posting 13, Gilly Chery adding 12 and Lovion Bell tallying 11.

Medford Tech will face top-seeded Lenape in the quarterfinals on Monday.
