Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street is set to air a major development in the Billy Mayhew, Todd Grimshaw and Paul Foreman love triangle.

The soap has already hinted that Billy will find romance again this year, and in new scenes Billy is set to declare his feelings for Paul.

In the new episodes, Dee-Dee declares that she and Paul will have a night out in town, though Billy also suggests to Paul that they meet for a drink later, which Paul agrees to (despite his promise to Dee-Dee).

He suggests to Dee-Dee that they go to the Rovers, and there she speaks about her love life to him. However, Paul's mood improves when he sees Billy walk in.

Billy admits to Paul that he was appalled by how Todd was violent towards Mike recently – not aware that it was actually Paul that attacked Mike, with Todd deciding to take the wrap.

Later on in the week, Billy goes to the builder's yard and admits he still has feelings for Paul – though Paul suggests they just remain friends.

However, when Paul gets hit by the Underworld van, which is being driven by Carla, Ed takes Paul to A&E. Will this shock moment reaffirm Billy's feelings for Paul?

Speaking previously about the love triangle, producer Iain MacLeod said: "Romance is in the air for two of them, but I'll leave you to guess which pair it might be. Historically there's been strong feelings from both Team Todd and Billy, or the other side with Team Paul and Billy.

"We've been back and forth for years and have picked a team, but whatever team ends up being the couple at the end, the story will be about the three of them.

"We see a lot of heart from Todd in places and a lot of deviance in places. We crash a huge story onto one of them, which causes former enemies to become best friends in secret. It's a really interesting year for all of them and they'll be at the centre of one of our biggest stories."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
