The expansion will enhance space inside a $64 million patient tower, completed in December 2021, to serve mothers and newborns. The project includes the build-out of an additional 24,000 square feet for a 21-bed neonatal intensive care unit, 12 luxury postpartum suites, and a separate women’s services entrance for patients and visitors, according to a news release. Construction on the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
“The new addition will enhance Medical City McKinney’s exceptional maternity care,” Medical City McKinney CEO Ernest C. Lynch III said in the release. “As the destination of choice for health care excellence, this expansion to our women’s services will enable us to provide our growing community the clinical excellence and beautiful amenities that our patients and their families are seeking for their birth experience.”
Medical City McKinney staff and colleagues celebrated the launch of the project by writing compassionate messages on the drywall, which will “forever surround” women and babies in the facility, according to a news release.
The project is a part of Medical City Healthcare’s major capital investment initiative of more than $1.4 billion to be spent or committed over five years. These projects include building expansions, facility improvements and enhanced technology, the release stated. Medical City McKinney delivered more than 2,100 babies in 2022, the release stated.
