Lakers Rumors: LA Reportedly Receiving Trade Offers For Anthony Davis

It begins.

Sam Amico of Hoops Wire reports that many rival clubs have put out feelers to the Lakers about the trade availability of star center Anthony Davis. Amico adds that his sources inform him that Los Angeles is rejecting overtures for now.

That said, now that moody Brooklyn Nets All-Star power forward Kevin Durant could be potentially pried loose, Anthony Davis absolutely should be on the table for LA.

Despite being nine years younger than his All-Star colleague LeBron James, the 38-year-old James is somehow the more reliably healthy player of the two. He has a higher ceiling than almost any other player in the league, but he also gets hurts every few months and can't always survive playoff series healthy.

Yours truly thought a Davis-for-Kevin Durant deal could prove beneficial to both sides, at least in the abstract. Davis could also be shipped out for a king's ransom from the Toronto Raptors, for some additional All-Stars on his hometown Chicago Bulls or the New York Knicks, for a deep package of young role players in Phoenix, and elsewhere.

It will be interesting to see how Davis's health impacts his on-court performance going forward. With Irving now on the Dallas Mavericks, Davis could be an appetizing target for other franchises hoping to beef up their personnel.
