Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has now lost twice in the semifinal of the College Football Playoff.

That leaves he and Michigan in a weird spot as far as fan support goes. On one hand, how can you complain about 2 straight CFP appearances? But on the other, some wonder if Harbaugh can win the big game and get Michigan over the hump.

Always College Fooball host Greg McElroy has heard all the noise. On Tuesday, he discussed the Harbaugh conundrum and gave his thoughts on it.

“I’m not saying he is (under pressure), I’m just saying he’s at Michigan, the expectations are always high.  Remember he’s lost 2 consecutive semifinal performances. And you can make a case this past year that he had the better roster, and now people are now like ‘oh can he win the big game.'”, McElroy said. “… I think it’s ridiculous, I think it’s low-hanging fruit, but I still think any time you’re at Michigan it’s always a top 10 pressure job.”

You can hear McElroy’s full thoughts below.

Harbaugh should have enough firepower to make a run at a 3rd straight CFP appearance. Both Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards are returning, alongside some key pieces on defense and quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Can Harbaugh get Michigan to the top of the mountain?
