Sanaa Abourezk, the owner of Sanaa’s Gourmet Mediterranean, is one of the finalists for the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Midwest. Abourezk is competing, in a way, against pop singer Taylor Swift. Abourezk says all this national recognition is a bittersweet honor for her.

Ronald Place, a Huron native, Army veteran and medical doctor, has been named the top executive in the Avera McKennan region. The district told KELOLAND News Tuesday that the cost of the sport is just one element of current budget considerations. Last week, coaches and gymnasts were told that the district would be cutting the sport as with the current budget being drafted this spring.
