Bingham Family Vineyards is slated to open up shop at 409 N. Oak St., Ste. 100, Roanoke, this April.

BFV has three Texas locations: One is a tasting room just east of Fredericksburg in Hye; one is the farm where it grow the grapes for its wines in Meadow, just outside of Lubbock; and one is a tasting room in Grapevine on Main Street.

When Winery Manager Marissa Bingham Dodson and Grapevine Tasting Room Manager Jenn Carroll were looking to expand BFV's Dallas-Fort Worth presence beyond Grapevine, Roanoke was almost a no brainer.

“One area that kept popping up on our radar was Roanoke,” Carroll said. “We loved the vibe and the people of Roanoke. We love the direction that Oak Street is going and enjoy watching it grow in the past year. That truly was an easy choice to pick Roanoke as the next location in DFW. We've been talking about this location for some time, and we are so excited to be a part of the community.”

The land in Meadow that houses the winery has been in the Bingham family for five generations since the early 1900s. Cliff and Betty Bingham started the vineyard in 2003, when they only were selling the grapes to other wineries in Texas.

“They started with 5 acres of grapes and currently over 200 acres of grapes and 2,000 acres of organic farming; mainly cotton, but they are also growing and selling hemp currently,” Carroll said.

The Bingham family started the winery in 2014 and use only the grapes grown on-site for its wines, also called 100% estate Texas wine, according to Carroll. It has a full lineup of red and white wines, including reserves and sweet wines. Several of its wines have earned awards in competitions, including the 2022 Grapevine’s Grapefest People’s Choice competition.

Another big draw of the Roanoke location is the size of the venue.

“The Grapevine location is 800 square feet, and so events are a no go there,” Carroll said. “With Roanoke, we want to do craft nights, wine pairing nights, trivia, wine education classes and some more we are playing around with.”

Besides wine, easy snack foods such as flatbreads and cheese boards will complement the menu. It will also sell CBD products at the Roanoke location, according to Carroll.

An exact opening date will be posted on BFV's website and Facebook page.
