The latest on all the injuries in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad.

It has been a wretched season for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool in terms of injuries but there does appear to be light at the end of the tunnel with several key players due to return over the coming weeks.

Here is the latest on all of Liverpool’s injured players:

Virgil van Dijk

The Dutchman was pictured outside at the AXA Training Centre last week after his hamstring injury picked up at the start of the year.

Klopp admitted at his press conference ahead of the Wolves defeat at the weekend that he is hopeful the 31-year-old can return to training this week which may lead to a return for the Merseyside derby on Monday.

Klopp on van Dijk:

"Virgil is getting closer, but not ready for the [Wolves] game obviously. Parts of training, I think, next week as well for Virgil."

Van Dijk’s centre half partner Konate also picked up a hamstring injury during the FA Cup fourth round loss to Brighton.

Klopp on Konate:

“Ibou has a muscle injury. Again he didn’t think it was massive, it happened in the game, I asked him after the game, ‘Are you OK?’ and he said, ‘Yeah, I’m OK.’ After the game [he had] treatment, scan, bam, out.”

Initial reports suggest the French international will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks so the hope will be he can return for the Champions League first leg against Real Madrid on the 21st February.

Arthur Melo

The Brazilian was another to pick up a muscle injury shortly after his loan move from Juventus.

All indications are that his rehab is going well and he could return prior to the end of the month.

Roberto Firmino

Liverpool’s number nine was showing something like his best form in the run up to the 2022 World Cup but has not featured since the tournament in Qatar after picking up a knock in training.

The 31-year-old was pictured alongside van Dijk on the training pitches last week and could return, if not for the Merseyside derby, shortly after.

Klopp on Firmino:

“Bobby is getting closer obviously, very good."

Diogo Jota

The Reds have badly missed Portugal international Jota since he picked up a serious calf injury in the 1-0 victory over Manchester City at Anfield back in October.

It has been a long road back for the 26-year-old but he is another that could be back in full training this week ahead of Monday’s clash with Everton.

Klopp on Jota:

"Diogo Jota had a full session with the team this week but then the next day had again a rehab session, not because of the session the day before, it was just part of the plan. I think he will be back in normal training next week."

Luis Diaz

The Colombian is another player that has been sorely missed this season after two separate knee injuries.

He is on the road to recovery again however and could be back in action in March.

Klopp on Diaz:

“Luis is running now, it will take a few weeks still but he is now out on the pitch as well running, which is really good."
