Hailey Van Lith Named to Naismith Trophy Midseason Team

The junior guard is one of seven ACC players to make the list, and is third in the league in scoring.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville women's basketball guard Hailey Van Lith has been named to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Women's Trophy Midseason Team, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Tuesday. The award is presented to the nation's top women's college basketball player.

The 5-foot-7 junior guard is one of seven players from the Atlantic Coast Conference to make the list. She joins North Carolina guards Deja Kelly and Alyssa Utsby, NC State guard Diamond Johnson, Virginia Tech center Elizabeth Kitley, Florida State guard Ta'Niya Latson and Notre Dame guard Notre Dame. 30 overall players were named to the team.

As of Feb. 7, the Wenatchee, Wash. native is third in the ACC in scoring with 19.2 points per game and ninth in assists with 3.4. She's also third on the Cardinals in rebounding with 5.0 per game, and is shooting 41.3 percent from the field.

Van Lith has been named to three 2022-23 midseason watch lists so far. She was also named to the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 and the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Top 10.

The Midseason Team will be trimmed to 10 national semifinalists in early March, and then further trimmed to four finalists on Mar. 21. The 2023 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy will be awarded on Mar. 29.

Louisville currently sports an 11-4 on the season, with a 6-3 record in ACC play. Their next scheduled game is a home matchup against Syracuse on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Tipoff will be at 6:30 p.m. EST on the ACC Network.
