Suspect identified, arrested in homicide of Chattanooga woman

Man is being charged with criminal homicide and felony unlawful possession of a firearm

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police identified the man involved in the homicide of a woman in January. He is facing charges, according to CPD.

Police identified the suspect as 43-year-old David Fritts.

CPD says they linked Fritts to the crime. He is being charged with criminal homicide and felony unlawful possession of a firearm.

His arrest is related to the homicide of 48-year-old Angela Young. Police found Young dead in a home on January 26.

News 12 first reported on the incident last month.

Police said Fritts is currently being held in Monroe County, New York. Therefore, he is awaiting extradition to Tennessee.

The incident happened last month at 605 Merriam St. in Chattanooga. Police responded to the call around noon.

Officers found Young unconscious in her home. CPD said a gunshot injury was her cause of death.
