OnePlus has just introduced the world's first 7:5 aspect-ratio screen for tablets along with its first-gen Pad. The inaugural ReadFit display is driven by the "ultra-efficient" Dimensity 9000 Plus SoC, backed for enhanced power as well as connectivity, particularly outdoors. The OnePlus Pad is also designed to support "immersive" quad-speaker audio, fast SuperVOOC charging and stylus/keyboard use out of the box.

OnePlus asserts that its initial foray into the tablet market is a true rival to other, more established slates right out of the gate. With its confirmed MediaTek Dimensity 9000 platform that is rated for "5G Cellular Data Sharing" [update: the OEM has now clarified that this feature is in fact a new way of piggy-backing off the connectivity of a OnePlus 11, whereas the Pad itself is Wi-Fi only] on the tablet, it would certainly be one of the more unique, even without the introduction of the 7:5 screen to its form-factor.

The OEM is confident that the new aspect ratio makes for an improved reading experience in particular. For everything else, the Pad's LCD screen is rated to refresh at up to 144Hz for content consumption in 2.8K (2800x2000) that is "smooth from every angle".

To this end, the OnePlus Pad supports Dolby Vision - and also Dolby Atmos for the custom "Omnibearing Sound Field" technology. They are backed to provide "immersive" audio via its speakers; then again, none of those are front-firing.

OnePlus has also revealed that it will pack 67W SuperVOOC charging, rated to deliver 1 day of power in an hour of charging to a battery also rated for prolonged standby times as well as Stylo and Magnetic Keyboard compatibility out of the box.

The Pad is also rated to support various cross-device data-sharing ecosystem features. However, its brand is keeping prospective buyers waiting until April 2023 for it to go to pre-order; therefore, OnePlus' first ever Android tablet remains without official pricing for its up-to-12GB RAM SKUs for now.
