Clear your calendars: Barbra Streisand's long-anticipated memoir is officially on the way.

My Name Is Barbra, written by Streisand herself, will publish on November 7, 2023, and is now available for pre-order. "Dozens of books have been written about Streisand, and now in My Name Is Barbra, she tells her story in her own words," Viking announced. The title is a reference to the name of her 1965 album and television special.

"In My Name Is Barbra, she tells her own story about her life and extraordinary career, from growing up in Brooklyn to her first star-making appearances in New York nightclubs to her breakout performance in Funny Girl (musical and film) to the long string of successes in every medium in the years that followed," the description of the book reads. "The book is, like Barbra herself, frank, funny, opinionated, and charming. She recounts her early struggles to become an actress, eventually turning to singing to earn a living; the recording of some of her acclaimed albums; the years of effort involved in making Yentl; her direction of The Prince of Tides; her friendships with figures ranging from Marlon Brando to Madeleine Albright; her political advocacy; and the fulfillment she’s found in her marriage to James Brolin."

There has been discussion of a Barbra Streisand memoir for years. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis reportedly asked her to write one in 1984, and said she would edit it. "We had tea, and she was just so lovely," Streisand told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in 2021. But Streisand said she "wasn't ready."

"I was always busy doing something else, so I would write in the journals, then go on to something else," she said. But, she told Fallon, she's been working on a book for decades. "In 1999, I really started writing," she told the late night host. "And then other things, concerts and movies or whatever, and then in 2008, I really started writing."

"The pandemic helped me finish the book, or I'm almost finished," she continued. "I've written 824 pages, and I still have the little epilogue to do." According to the Amazon listing, My Name Is Barbra will clock in at 1,040 pages.

Streisand has written one other book, My Passion for Design, focusing on the interior design of her homes.
